Meaning of Memorial Day

Memorial Day often comes hand in hand with blowout sales, a three-day weekend and a chance to get the year’s first sunburn.  We would be remiss if we didn’t take a step back and recognize that as we celebrate the All-American holiday, Memorial Day is one of the most solemn national celebrations.

Memorial Day is not a day to thank the living Veterans for their service.  Rather, it is a day to remember the bravery of fallen soldiers, our greatest heroes, and their valiant sacrifices in defense of our country.

As we enjoy the unofficial start of summer on May 29th, please take a moment to reflect on what this holiday is truly about; honoring the dedicated and selfless individuals who fought to protect what we value most; life, liberty and our pursuit of happiness.
