Application Architect Contract

Application Architect – £640 per day inside IR35 – Aldershot (hybrid) – SC Needed (sole British national)

Responsibilities

• Design technical services or plan system integration, selecting necessary platforms and technologies to meet project requirements and user needs
• Provide technical leadership and consultancy to both internal and external development teams, ensuring solutions are fit for purpose, whilst meeting time and budget restraints
• Build and maintain technical roadmaps, looking ahead for future opportunities or blockers and ensuring decisions by development teams align with the strategy
• Involvement in the wider development community, identifying good practices to adopt and sharing your experiences, e.g. through blog posts, tech talks at conferences
• Enable a positive technical culture, applying agile methods to development and completing quality assurance practices
• Plan the migration, and assisting in the execution of the migration

• Conduct detailed analysis of business processes, functional requirements, and scenarios to produce high quality Solution Designs that meet the business requirements

• Own the Design and document the future state configurations (HLD, LLD), obtain buy in from customers and stakeholders

• Work with vendors and 3^rd party providers to ensure that the architecture is delivered to DXC’s requirements and as part of a holistic solution
• Identify architectural patterns, and apply industry standard best practice to deliver high quality, robust and flexible designs
• Design solutions to meet non-functional requirements, ensuring that performance, scalability, resilience, and service availability are designed in from the outset.
• Ensure that solution design meets the operation requirements for monitoring, management, and on-going maintenance in an agile, continuous delivery environment

Knowledge & Skills:

• Demonstrable experience leading technical teams and delivering user-focused services
• Strong software development and application architecture experience, with good knowledge of open source technologies, cloud and web, testing
• Experience of Application Migration and Transformation
• Experience in defining high quality Solution Architecture designs, and gaining approval for such designs in a complex stakeholder environment
• Experience working in agile teams, Continuous Integration, Continuous Deployment and Dev-Ops.

• Stakeholder management including senior stakeholders, 3^rd party partners and standards organizations
• Defining transition plans and roadmaps for complex and large-scale transformation programs
• Experience leading technical teams and delivering user-focused services
• Ability to adapt quickly to new technologies
• Experience scaling online services
• Understand how to prioritise work in a fast, customer-centric environment
• Understand how to influence senior management and communicate with both technical and non-technical audiences

• Experience initiating projects, participating in workshops to gather user needs and building prototypes
• Experience of working with external standards organisations
• A view of technology as an enabler of great digital services
• Eagerness to influence how digital services are delivered
• Awareness of how to budget in an on-demand environment and an understanding of legal implications
• Experience of cloud technologies, enterprise integration tools and extract, transformation and load (ETL) tools
• Experience designing and implementing secure systems
• Experience mentoring technical staff and managing stakeholders
• Experience working in a dynamic organisation with rapidly expanding users and changing requirements
• Interest in forming best practices, standards and policies
• Willingness to travel to client locations
