Our Technology, Data, and Innovation (TDI) strategy is focused on strengthening engineering expertise, introducing an agile delivery model, as well as modernizing the Bank’s IT infrastructure.  We continue to invest and build a team of visionary tech talent, providing you with the training, freedom, and opportunity to do pioneering work.  As a Senior Scala Engineer you will be responsible for the design and development of RF-CS platform in Risk Finance Treasury under its Market Risk Technology area.  It will be a hands-on development role on Big Data Hadoop technology, leveraging technologies such as Scala, Hive, Spark, and Impala.  You will engage and partner with the business whilst working within a broader creative, collaborative, and innovative team, with a strong desire to make an impact.

Your Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, enhance, and maintain a large mission-critical IT system managing 1PB of valuation, risk, trade, and reference data.
• Collaborate with users and technical teams in London.
• Plan and deliver solution in two-week sprints and five sprints in a SAFe Program Increment
• Work in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities with a constant focus on delivery
• Balance business demands and IT fulfilment in terms of standardization, reducing risk and increasing IT flexibility.

Your Skills and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent
• Relevant enterprise development with Scala, familiarity with Java is a plus.
• Familiarity with and/or demonstrated aptitude to learn Big Data technologies (Hadoop, HDFS, Spark, Hive, Impala, Yarn, Oozie), proficiency in SQL (PL/SQL), data modelling.
• Architectural Design Patterns, highly optimized, Low latency, and Massively Scalable Platforms
• Experience in Apache Spark, with in depth knowledge of streaming and integration APIs, and with source control (Git), build tools (Maven) and continuous integration (TeamCity / Jenkins)
