Job Title: Content Specialist - Political Journalism 

Location: Remote (West Coast preferred)
Pay Rate: $50 - $55 /hour
W2 contract duration: 6 months 


Summary:
The Content Specialist III is responsible for creating, reviewing, and editing content for Meta platforms, often addressing nuanced and sensitive topics. This role requires strong editorial judgment, advanced writing and editing skills, and familiarity with AI tools. The ideal candidate has experience working with complex datasets, analyzing content, and surfacing actionable insights, while demonstrating neutrality when working with political or social subject matter.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Write, edit, and review various forms of content for Meta platforms, from creative copy to informative and instructional text.
  • Analyze large-scale datasets and produce detailed reports with actionable insights for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Apply review guidelines consistently to maintain accuracy, quality, and compliance with company standards.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with content, product, and policy teams to refine and improve the user experience.
  • Work on politically sensitive or nuanced topics with a commitment to impartiality and integrity.
  • Perform and support basic data analysis, using visualization tools to present findings effectively.
  • Maintain flexibility to work extended schedules based on project needs and deadlines.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 6+ years of experience in journalism, digital content strategy, production, or related fields.
  • Exceptional critical thinking skills and proven expertise in editorial judgment on complex topics, such as politics, bias, gender, and religion.
  • Familiarity with AI tools and their applications in content creation and analysis.
  • Proficiency in spreadsheet tools (e.g., Google Sheets, MS Excel) and data analytics platforms.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with attention to detail and clarity.
  • Background in creative content development, including visual content production (photo editing, video production) or creative writing.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of the social media landscape, trends, and platforms.
  • Experience with system prompting or prompt engineering for AI tools.
  • Advanced understanding of AI-related workflows, including dataset fine-tuning and cleaning.
  • Familiarity with AP Style and adherence to editorial standards.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, Political Science, or a related field.
