Data Protection Officer – Hertford – 3 months contract - £25 per hour umbrella – DBS needed before start
Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Data Protection Officer. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in dealing with complex Subject Access requests within a County Council or similar authority. They should possess previous experience in reviewing and approving Data Sharing agreements. While a Data Protection Practitioner qualification is desirable, it is not essential. The successful candidate should be knowledgeable in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook, and be proficient in the use of Adobe PDF (training will be provided). A DBS check will be required for this role.
Responsibilities:
- Process Data Protection Subject Access Requests: Handle and manage complex Subject Access requests, ensuring compliance with relevant data protection legislation, policies, and procedures.
- Customer Liaison: Interact with customers in a professional and efficient manner, addressing their Subject Access requests and providing necessary assistance and clarification.
- Data Protection Support and Guidance: Offer expert support and guidance to internal service areas on matters related to data protection, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and best practices.
- Review and Approve Data Protection Impact Assessments: Evaluate Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs), assess potential risks, and provide recommendations for mitigating data protection concerns.
- Investigation of Data Protection Breaches: Conduct thorough investigations into reported Data Protection breaches, identify root causes, and recommend corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.
Requirements:
- Proven experience in dealing with complex Subject Access requests within a County Council or similar authority.
- Data Sharing Agreements: Previous experience in reviewing and approving Data Sharing agreements.
- Data Protection Practitioner Qualification: Desirable, but not essential. A recognized Data Protection Practitioner qualification would be advantageous.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. Familiarity with Adobe PDF is preferred, and training will be provided.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with customers and internal stakeholders.
- Analytical Thinking: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to evaluate data protection impact assessments and investigate breaches effectively.
- Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail to ensure accuracy and compliance with data protection regulations.
- Compliance Knowledge: Up-to-date knowledge of data protection laws, regulations, and best practices.
